Noida airport a 'red zone', no drones or UAVs around it

Noida: Noida International Airport in Jewar has been declared a ‘red zone', which means flying drones or any unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) above it or in its vicinity is prohibited. This follows instructions from the civil aviation ministry. Noida airport is expected to start phase 1 of operations this May.

Additional DCP Manish Kumar Mishra said, "The airport was declared a ‘red zone' on Oct 8, 2022, according to the instructions of the ministry of civil aviation, directorate general of civil aviation and security agencies. There is a complete ban on flying drones or any type of UAVs above and in the vicinity of the airport. This ban has been implemented keeping in mind the security of the airport and monitoring of the airspace."

Mishra further said, "Flying a drone without permission in this area is a punishable offence under the Airports Authority of India Act, 1934, and the rules for UAV operation. Legal action will be taken against any person, institution, or group found violating this instruction. All citizens are requested to follow this rule and cooperate with the security system of the airport."
