RAIPUR: Road accident victims in Chhattisgarh will receive free cashless treatment up to Rs 1.5 lakh at hospitals empanelled under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
Health minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal announced this, describing the "Cashless Treatment Scheme for Road Accident Victims 2025" as a highly beneficial public initiative by the Union govt.
Addressing the press conference at his residence in Raipur on Friday, the Health Minister stated that the scheme provides free treatment for up to seven days at any Ayushman-empanelled hospital.
If a single family has two accident victims, they will be eligible for free treatment up to Rs 3 lakh, and for three victims, up to Rs 4.5 lakh. All hospitals registered under the Ayushman Bharat scheme will be included.
The Health Minister explained that if an accident victim is taken to a nearby Ayushman-empanelled hospital lacking necessary resources or specialist doctors, the hospital will immediately refer the case to another facility and update the portal to ensure prompt specialist care.
He added that more capable hospitals, including those for trauma and polytrauma, will be brought under this scheme to benefit more people. Chief medical and health officers have been instructed accordingly.
"We have written to the chief medical and health officers (CMHOs) of the state instructing them to initiate the process of implementation," the Health Minister stated. He thanked Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai for immediately implementing this public welfare scheme in the state.
