RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, during a visit to the BSF camp in Orchha's Basing, hailed the recent anti-Maoist operation as the "biggest to date," celebrating the elimination of 27 Maoists, including top leader Basavaraju. He praised the morale and efforts of the DRG, BSF, and District Force personnel, reaffirming the government's commitment to eradicate Maoism from Bastar by March 2026, in line with the Centre’s target. Highlighting the success of development schemes like Niyad Nellanar and PM Janman, Sai expressed optimism about Bastar's transformation and integration into mainstream progress. Deputy CM Vijay Sharma termed the operation a landmark victory drawing national and global attention.

The Chief Minister on Friday stated that the morale of security forces in Chhattisgarh is higher than the toughest mountains, asserting that Maoism will soon be eradicated from Bastar. He made these remarks during a visit to the BSF Camp in Basing, Orchha block, where he met with jawans involved in a major anti-Maoist operation on May 21.

The Chief Minister congratulated the DRG, BSF, and District Force personnel for their "historic achievement" in eliminating 27 Maoists, including hardcore Maoist Basavaraju, during an operation in the border hills of Narayanpur, Dantewada, and Bijapur. He addressed the jawans at the Basing camp, calling it the "biggest operation against Maoism to date."

The Chief Minister commended the jawans, applying tilak on their foreheads, and told them their role is crucial in bringing peace to Bastar. He flagged off 50 motorbikes for patrol duties, encouraging the forces for their high-level strategy and successful operation.

Sai reiterated the government's resolve to eliminate Maoism from Bastar, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah's commitment to end the Maoist problem nationwide by March 2026. He expressed confidence that Bastar would soon be fully integrated into Chhattisgarh's development, with accelerated progress in education, health, public welfare programmes, and infrastructure in previously inaccessible areas.

The Chief Minister mentioned that schemes like Niyad Nellanar (near to development) and PM Janman are connecting Maoist-affected areas with government initiatives, leading to positive changes in Bastar.

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma added that the operation's "historic success" has garnered national and international recognition, signifying a major positive shift for Bastar towards development and progress.

During the visit, the Chief Minister presented LED sets and gift hampers to the jawans. The personnel briefed the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister on their preparations and strategy for the operation. They also showcased weapons recovered from the Maoists after the encounter, including BGL launchers, 12-bore shotguns, .303 rifles, 7.62 rifles, 5.56 mm INSAS rifles, AK-47s, and 9 mm carbines.
