Rajkot: A 20-year-old nursing student allegedly died by suicide after consuming acid at her hostel room near Ghanteshwar on the Rajkot-Jamnagar highway on Monday afternoon.
The deceased, identified as Khushbu Parmar, was a second-year student at Anand Nursing Institute. She was found in a critical condition in her hostel room and rushed to Rajkot Civil Hospital, where she died during treatment.
According to Gandhigram police, the exact cause behind the suicide is yet to be determined. An investigation has been initiated, and statements are being recorded from hostel staff and fellow students.
Preliminary information suggests that Khushbu had returned to the hostel on Monday morning after spending a two-day break at her home in Paddhari. Around 2 pm, she reportedly consumed acid in her room.
Family sources said Khushbu's father is a farmer. Police are exploring possible reasons behind the incident, including academic pressure or personal distress.
