Rajkot: The death of a 30-year-old man in a road accident in Jamnagar on April 6 turned out to be a murder plotted by none other than his wife and her lover, who saw him as a villain in their seven-year love story.
On Monday, the police arrested the deceased Ravi Patel's wife, Rinkal, and her paramour, Akshay Dangariya. The probe revealed that they wanted to eliminate him for the past year. However, Rinkal reportedly broke down when confronted by Ravi's father, Dhirajlal, which confirmed the police's suspicion that the death was not accidental.
Ravi, who worked as a loan valuer, was riding his bike near Vijarkhi Dam when an SUV rammed into him. He suffered severe head injuries and died before receiving medical attention.
Jamnagar deputy superintendent of police (rural) RB Devdhara said, "While investigating the case as an accidental death, we got a lead about Rinkal and Dangariya's affair. Ravi's father also lodged a complaint informing us that Rinkal broke down and confessed to orchestrating the murder when he confronted her."
Rinkal and Ravi married in 2017 and have a six-year-old son. However, Rinkal was in an extra-marital relationship with Dangariya, who worked as a freelance accountant. Two years ago, Ravi learned about their affair and informed his father.
"Despite advising her multiple times, she did not agree to end the relationship. This led to frequent quarrels between Ravi and Rinkal. They wanted to marry but saw Ravi as an obstacle and plotted to eliminate him for a year," Devdhara said.
On the fateful day, Rinkal saw that Ravi went out on his bike instead of his car. She sniffed an opportunity to execute their sinister plot and informed Dangariya, who crashed his SUV into the bike.
