AISSEE 2026 application open at exams.nta.nic.in; entrance exam scheduled for January

AISSEE 2026 : The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially commenced the registration process for the All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination (AISSEE) 2026. The application window opened on October 10, 2025, for students seeking admission to Classes 6 and 9 in Sainik Schools and New Sainik Schools across India.

Candidates can apply online through the official NTA website at exams.nta.nic.in/sainik-school-society. The deadline for submitting the online application form is October 30, 2025. A correction window will be available from November 2 to November 4, 2025. The entrance examination is scheduled to be conducted in January 2026, with the exact date to be announced later.

Admissions offered in Sainik Schools and New Sainik Schools
AISSEE 2026 will facilitate admissions to Class 6 and Class 9 in 33 established Sainik Schools. Additionally, it covers admission to Class 6 in all 69 newly approved Sainik Schools and to Class 9 in 19 new Sainik Schools that will be eligible to admit students to Class 9 in the 2026–27 academic year.

For Class 6 admissions, students must be aged between 10 and 12 years as on March 31, 2026. For Class 9, the age requirement is 13 to 15 years on the same date.

Exam mode and structure
AISSEE 2026 will be held in pen and paper mode across 190 cities in India using OMR sheets.

The Class 6 exam will last 150 minutes and be conducted in 13 mediums, including English and Hindi. It will consist of 125 multiple-choice questions totalling 300 marks. The distribution includes:

• Language: 25 questions (50 marks)
• Mathematics: 50 questions (150 marks)
• Intelligence: 25 questions (50 marks)
• General Knowledge: 25 questions (50 marks)
The Class 9 exam will be conducted in English medium only and will have a duration of 180 minutes. It will include 150 questions carrying a total of 400 marks. The breakdown is as follows:
• Mathematics: 50 questions (200 marks)
• English: 25 questions (50 marks)
• Intelligence: 25 questions (50 marks)
• General Science: 25 questions (50 marks)
• Social Science: 25 questions (50 marks)

Application fees and qualifying criteria
The application fee is Rs 850 for General, OBC (NCL), Defence personnel, and Ex-Servicemen. For SC and ST categories, the fee is Rs 700.

To qualify, students must score a minimum of 25% in each section and 40% overall. This requirement does not apply to SC and ST candidates.

Admission routes and seat availability
For admission to Class 6 in New Sainik Schools:
• Category A (40% Route): Open to both boys and girls. Seat availability for girls can be checked on the respective school’s website.
• Category B (60% Route): Also open to girls. Candidates must already be studying in an approved New Sainik School and should have passed or be appearing in Class 5 by March 31, 2026.

For Class 9 admission in 19 New Sainik Schools:
• Only students who have passed Class 8 from a recognised school in the Sainik School vertical are eligible.
• Admission is available under the 40% route and for remaining unfilled vacancies.

Steps to apply online for AISSEE 2026
1. Visit the official website: Go to https://exams.nta.nic.in/sainik-school-society.
2. Click on the registration link: Select “Apply for AISSEE 2026” and begin registration by entering basic personal details.
3. Fill the application form: Complete the form with academic, personal, and exam-related details.
4. Upload required documents: Upload scanned copies of the candidate’s photo, signature, and relevant certificates as per the format specified.
5. Pay the application fee: Use debit card, credit card, net banking, or UPI to pay the fee and submit the form.

Result declaration and further updates
The AISSEE 2026 results are expected to be declared four to six weeks after the exam. Dates for downloading admit cards, exam cities, and result announcements will be published on the NTA websites — nta.ac.in and exams.nta.nic.in/sainik-school-society.
