Bengaluru witnessed heavy rains today, October 15, leading to waterlogging and traffic congestion in several areas. The weather department has issued an orange alert, prompting schools to close tomorrow, October 16, 2024. The order was issued by Bengaluru Urban district collector Jagadeesha.
The decision to close the schools was made with the safety of students and both teaching and non-teaching staff in mind. It is important to note that there is a government holiday on Thursday, October 17, in observance of Valmiki Jayanti.
Additionally, PU colleges will be on leave until October 18, 2024. It should be noted that rain-related holidays have not been declared for degree, PG, diploma, and engineering colleges. However, principals of most of these degree, post-graduation, diploma colleges and ITIs have been given a set of guidelines to follow to ensure students' safety.
To further mitigate the impact of the severe weather, the government has recommended that companies allow employees to work from home.
It is advisable for students, parents, and guardians to regularly check with the official school authorities for updates regarding school holidays, online classes, and other details.
