Ajay Devgn’s much-anticipated thriller Raid 2 has kickstarted its advance booking on an encouraging note, signaling a positive start for the film at the box office. As per Sacnilk, the film has managed to gross Rs 91.91 lakh through advance ticket sales for day one, with over 29,000 tickets already sold across 3,925 shows across the country. However, when block seats are factored in, the gross soars to Rs 2.06 crore, giving Raid 2 a significant head start before release day.
This reception is crucial for Ajay Devgn as his last outing as the iconic Bajirao Singham in Singham Again delivered only moderate business despite the franchise’s goodwill, his recent ventures like Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha and Maidaan struggled to make an impact theatrically. Both films faced lackluster collections and couldn’t meet audience expectations, adding pressure on the star’s next release.
Raid 2, directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, is the sequel to the 2018 hit Raid, which was appreciated for its gripping narrative and Ajay’s understated performance as an upright income tax officer. The sequel continues the saga of intense tax raids and corruption crackdowns, themes that resonated strongly with the audience in the first installment. This time Aajy has Ritiesh Deshmukh as his nemesis and Vaani Kapoor has stepped into the shoes of Illeana D’Cruz .
Trade believe that Raid 2 has the potential to revive Ajay Devgn’s box office fortunes. The early advance booking numbers reflect solid interest, especially in mass belts and urban centers, which were pivotal for the success of the original film. Additionally, the thriller genre coupled with Ajay’s commanding screen presence continues to hold appeal for audiences seeking a strong, content-driven entertainer.
With day one advance bookings already crossing the Rs 2 crore mark including block seats, the film is expected to build momentum closer to release day. All eyes are now on how Raid 2 will perform over the weekend and whether it can deliver the much-needed hit Ajay Devgn has been waiting for.
