NEW DELHI: It’s an evening to remember for the Delhi Capitals (DC) as they scripted history by defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium after 15 long years.
The win not only ended a painful streak but also marked DC’s third consecutive victory in IPL 2025 — a feat they last managed way back in 2009.

With this emphatic 25-run win, Delhi also climbed to the top of the points table, while CSK slumped to their third straight defeat.
The match began on a shaky note for DC after Jake Fraser-McGurk fell for a duck in the first over.
But KL Rahul, promoted to open in Faf du Plessis ’s absence, steadied the innings with a composed 77 off 51 balls.
Support came from young guns Abishek Porel and Sameer Rizvi, while Tristan Stubbs provided the late flourish with a fiery 24 not out off just 12 deliveries.
Despite Matheesha Pathirana’s death-over heroics, DC posted a competitive 183/6.
In response, CSK’s chase never really took off.
Wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals. Vipraj Nigam impressed with a double-strike, including the key wicket of Devon Conway.
With Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube dismissed cheaply and MS Dhoni arriving, the hosts ran out of steam.
CSK managed just 158/5 in their 20 overs, falling short by 25 runs.
For Delhi, the bowling unit delivered as a cohesive force. Mitchell Starc, Kuldeep Yadav , and Mukesh Kumar kept things tight, while captain Axar Patel’s decision-making proved spot on.
The Capitals’ long-standing Chennai hoodoo is finally over. From breaking a 15-year curse at Chepauk to winning three games on the trot, DC look like a team reborn. As for CSK, alarm bells may be ringing as they slip down the table with worrying consistency.
