Ram Navami is one of the most prominent Hindu festival. The day marks the birth anniversary of Lord Shri Rama, the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu. This is a great occasion that is celebrated across the country with great grandeur and enthusiasm. Rama Navami is celebrated on the ninth day of Shukla Paksha in the Hindu month of Chaitra or the last day of Chaitra Navratri. This year, Rama Navami will be celebrated on April 6, 2025.

Ram Navami 2025: Significance

This day honors the Birth of Lord Rama, the epitome of virtue and dharma (righteousness). Lord Rama was born in Ayodhya to King Dasharatha and Queen Kaushalya. This day signifies the triumph of good over evil. Lord Rama's life teaches dedication, truth, and duty and millions are inspired by Lord Rama's life. Devotees travel to Ayodhya, where Shri Ram was born, to pray and become a part of the lavish festivities.

Ram Navami 2025: Puja Rituals
1. Morning Puja and Fasting (Upvas)

Devotees wake up early in the morning and after cleansing, they perform puja to Lord Ram. Many devotees observe fast and they eat only Satvik foods like milk, fruits, and special vrat meals.Bhajans and special prayers are chanted in praise of Lord Rama.

2. Chanting mantras and reciting the Ramayana

In order to obtain divine blessings, devotees read the Ramacharitmanas or Sundara Kand. Some devotees organize Akhand Ramayana Path on a big level. Chanting mantra is also one of the most powerful way to please Lord Rama and devotees can chant Jai Siya Ram 108 times or as many times as they can.

3. Special Pujas & Abhishek of Lord Rama


Devotees organise special puja, kirtan, and also perform abhishekam to Lord Rama by using milk, honey, ghee, gangajal, and tulsi. Visiting temples is also one of the way to appease Lord Shri Ram.

4. Reciting Stotrams

Reciting the Rama Raksha Stotram is another way to show your gratitude to Lord Rama and reciting thousand names of Lord Vishnu, which is popularly known as Vishnu Sahasranama can remove all the sins, which people might have committed knowingly or unknowingly.

5. Festivities in temples

Ayodhya, Rameshwaram, and other Vishnu temples host significant festivities. Lord Rama's idol is carried in processions (Shobha Yatra) with kirtans and bhajans.

6. Kanya Puja (Young Girls' Worship)

As this is the last day of Navratri so Goddess Siddhidatri is also worshipped and many people perform Kanya Pujan and worship nine girls as a manifestation of Goddess Durga. On this day people do puja to Maa Siddhidatri and give young girls food, presents, and seek blessings by touching their feet.

7. Donation and Charity


This is a perfect day to conduct bhandara or food stall and distribute food among needy people. People can also organise water stalls for the needy people.
