WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert has generated widespread hatred for herself after Napheesa Collier brought out a different side of her recently. Engelbert’s comments on WNBA athletes, including one of the most popular faces, Caitlin Clark owes her success to her have diverted the attention of the league. During a recent episode of her podcast, Show Me Something, Sophie Cunningham did not hold back while talking about Cathy Engelbert. She said,

“Great leaders want to see other people be more successful than them. They want to make sure that they’re cared for. I get it, she’s the business side of it, but you can be respectful and treat your product, the product of why people are paying attention, why people are buying certain jerseys, treat your product with respect. Be a great leader, and she’s not in any sense. The disrespect is just crazy to me.”




West Wilson, Cunningham’s cohost, even compared Cathy Engelbert to NBA commissioner Adam Silver , MLB commissioner Rob Manfred , and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell . Wilson said,

“NBA, MLB, NFL, they embrace their f***** stars,” he said. “It’s like the kindergarten lesson for owning a f***** league.”

Reportedly, WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert, Caitlin Clark wouldn’t have landed her $16 million endorsement deal without her. However, the Indiana Fever guard was a star way before she entered the WNBA.

The 2025 WNBA MVP runner-up up Napheesa Collier, recently made headlines. The Minnesota Lynx star blasted WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert and even called her out for poor leadership. She said,




“‘Players should be on their knees, thanking their lucky stars for the media rights deal that I got them.”

Collier criticized Cathy Engelbert for putting herself above the players, calling her out for acting like their success depends on her. She even recalled and quoted Engelbert claiming the players "should be grateful" to her.
