The New York Mets pitcher, David Peterson , seemed to have hurt his back during the game on Sunday, when he bent over on the mound in the fifth inning. However, it was later clarified that it wasn't a back injury, and he was just feeling sick to his stomach. Peterson spoke about what he felt and what exactly happened.

Carlos Mendoza advises David Peterson to take his timeFor the New York Mets manager, or any team manager, a situation when a player feels uneasy could be a tough spot. On one hand, there is an ongoing game which is getting tense, and on the other hand, it’s the player’s health that matters the most.
For manager Carlos Mendoza, he was worried. It was only when he spoke to David Peterson, he understood the matter. Mendoza said:
“The last thing you want to see is a guy bend over like that, it’s not a good look, Once I got out there and I heard ‘stomach’ and ‘not feeling good,’ I was like, ‘OK, this is not an arm or anything we have to worry about. Just take your time and see how you go.’”
David Peterson managed to throw 91 pitches in the game. After the game, Peterson was checked by the team doctors, they told him he didn’t have any other symptoms. He just felt sick.
Carlos Mendoza further added:
“They keep throwing fastballs at him, I think he’s a little off timing-wise because he’s either clinging to the fastball or chasing offspeed pitches out of the strike zone. He will continue to fight, continue to work and he will get through it.”
