At the India Mobile Congress 2025 (IMC), global telecom leader Ericsson reaffirmed its commitment to India’s digital transformation by unveiling a suite of 5G and AI-powered innovations designed to enhance connectivity, drive inclusion, and accelerate industrial and societal progress. With over 360 million 5G subscribers and coverage reaching more than 80% of India’s population, the country has emerged as a global frontrunner in 5G adoption. Ericsson’s R&D centers in Chennai, Bengaluru, and Gurugram are driving advancements in AI, 6G, and semiconductor design. The company recently expanded its ASIC R&D in Bengaluru and began manufacturing passive antennas in India with VVDN Technologies , aligning with the Make in India and Digital India missions.

Through its 5G Center of Excellence in Jabalpur and the Connect to Learn initiative, Ericsson is helping build a skilled workforce ready for next-gen technologies, bridging the digital skill gap and preparing youth for future opportunities.

- Grain ATM Annapurti: In partnership with the World Food Programme , Ericsson introduced a 5G-enabled food grain dispenser using Aadhaar-based biometrics. Already deployed in cities like Shillong and Lucknow, 23 more units will roll out nationwide to support the One Nation One Ration Card scheme.
- StethoECG: Developed with IIT Madras , this handheld wireless stethoscope with embedded ECG capabilities enables real-time remote diagnostics over 5G—ideal for rural healthcare access.
- Automated Railcar Inspection: A robotic dog equipped with sensors and cameras inspects railcars using private 5G and AI, improving safety and operational efficiency.
- Fixed Wireless Access (FWA): With 8.4 million subscribers—40% from rural areas—Ericsson’s FWA solutions are bridging India’s broadband divide, delivering fiber-like speeds wirelessly.
- Train Ride to the Future: An AR-powered demo showcasing seamless 5G connectivity for commuters, blending entertainment, productivity, and communication.
