JAMMU: Udhampur Police Sunday arrested a criminal wanted in several cases of rape, drug trafficking, illegal possession of weapons, and murder attempt in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab.
Amir Khan , a resident of Majalta tehsil in Udhampur was arrested in a well-coordinated operation. At least half a dozen FIRs are registered against him across various police stations of J&K and Punjab, a police spokesperson said. He was a member of a gangster group active in J&K’s Udhampur and Samba districts.
Khan’s arrest is a “blow to criminals operating in the area,” has provided relief to local residents, and reinforced their belief in J&K police, the spokesperson added.
