Billionaire Elon Musk on Thursday retweeted an image of a red cap that read “Trump 2032” and captioned it “Think ahead,” throwing his support behind a potential fourth term for Donald Trump. The move follows the latest buzz on the US president's newly launched “Trump 2028” merchandise, reigniting debates about term limits and constitutional boundaries.

The US constitution’s 22nd amendment bars anyone from being elected president more than twice. Trump, who served from 2017 to 2021 and won a second term starting January, would be ineligible for a third term under existing law.
Trump has previously hinted at workarounds to the term limit. In an interview with NBC News last month, he acknowledged that there were ways around the 22nd Amendment, including running as vice president on a ticket led by someone like JD Vance, and then taking over if the president resigned. “A lot of people would like me to be president again, Trump had said.
Additionally, Congressman Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.) has proposed a constitutional amendment to allow a non-consecutive third term, though such a change would face steep political and legal hurdles.
