Bantwal: The Thumbay Fest–2025, a three-day grand event featuring entertainment, cultural shows, health camps, and career guidance sessions, will be held from April 11 to 13 near Father Muller Hospital ground in Thumbay.
The event is being organised by Thumbay B.A. Group in association with the Government of Karnataka, Yenepoya University, Gulf Medical University, and KEF Holdings.
Spreading unity and awareness
Addressing a press conference, Thumbay PU College Office Superintendent B Abdul Kabir said the fest is aimed at bringing people together and fostering harmony while supporting rural economic activities. The initiative is being held under the leadership of B.M. Ashraf, trustee of Thumbay Muhiyuddin Education Trust. Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker U.T. Khader has extended full support from the state government, he added.
Prominent dignitaries to attend inaugural and valedictory
The event will be inaugurated on April 11 at 4 PM. Prominent dignitaries attending include Odiyoor Sri Gurudevananda Swamiji, Rev. Fr. Valerian D’Souza from Modankap Infant Jesus Church, and Alhaj K.P. Irshad Darimi from Mittabailu Masjid.
The valedictory ceremony on April 13 at 7:30 PM will feature felicitation of local achievers. Several MPs, MLAs, and notable personalities from various fields will take part. The closing event will feature a Bollywood rock concert, fireworks, and an advanced light and sound show.
To oversee the preparations, Speaker U.T. Khader is scheduled to hold a review meeting with officials at Thumbay PU College on April 7. Thumbay Educational Institutions heads including Naveen Kumar K.S., Jagadeesh Rai, and Sairam Nayak were present at the press meet.
Diverse programmes over three evenings
Thumbay Fest will be held daily from 4 PM to 10 PM. Events include:
- A health camp by Yenepoya University
- Career guidance from Gulf Medical University
- A food fair and various commercial stalls
- Cultural performances showcasing Beary and Tulu heritage
Other attractions include “Telikeda Gonchil” by Umesh Mijar’s team, “Pilinilike,” chende vadana, multilingual poetry gatherings, and Bharatanatyam recitals.
