Guttigaru (Sullia Taluk): In a shocking incident reported from Nadugallu in Nalkuru village of Sullia taluk, a mother and her son allegedly attempted suicide by consuming rat poison. While the son lost his life, the mother is currently in a critical condition at a hospital.
The deceased has been identified as Nitin (32), son of Kushalappa Gowda from Derappajjana Mane in Nalkuru. His mother, Sulochana, is undergoing treatment and remains in a serious state.
Sources said both had consumed poison three days ago. However, on Sunday morning, their health began to deteriorate, prompting their family to rush them to the hospital. Unfortunately, Nitin did not survive.
Nitin, an ITI graduate, was engaged in farming on his land. He was married to Deeksha a year ago. Deeksha, who works as a guest lecturer at a local college, was reportedly at her parental home when the incident occurred.
Locals remember Nitin as a well-mannered and friendly person with a good reputation in the village. His father Kushalappa Gowda is also reportedly unwell.
A case has been registered at the Subrahmanya Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
