Moodbidri: A couple sustained serious injuries after a lorry collided with their scooter at Amburi Junction in Beluvai village on Saturday afternoon.
The injured have been identified as Prasad and his wife Shamita, both residents of the area. According to sources, the lorry was being driven recklessly and at high speed by Naveed from the Kesargadde Junction, when it hit the scooter coming from the opposite direction.
Shamita reportedly suffered a severe leg injury, while Prasad also sustained multiple injuries. Local trader Sharath, who witnessed the accident, rushed the couple to a private hospital in Moodbidri. As their condition was critical, they were later shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru for advanced treatment.
The couple’s 6-year-old son, who was also on the scooter, was thrown off in the impact but escaped unhurt.
Prasad works as a gold appraiser for SCDCC and ICICI Bank branches. Moodbidri Police have registered a case and are investigating.
