Chennai, April 30, 2025 — TVS Motor Company has officially filed a design patent for its upcoming RTS X supermoto motorcycle, signaling strong intentions to take the model from concept to production. Originally revealed at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, the RTS X drew significant attention for its aggressive styling and purpose-built stance. While TVS hasn’t confirmed a launch date, the patent filing hints at the possibility of a commercial rollout.
At the heart of the RTS X will be a new 300 cc engine, internally codenamed RT-XD4, expected to deliver a performance profile that caters to both urban thrill-seekers and off-road enthusiasts. Though official output figures are yet to be disclosed, the engine is designed to rival the power-packed KTM 390 SMC R in its segment.
Key mechanical highlights include:
-
Trellis frame architecture for improved rigidity and agility
-
Upside-down (USD) front forks
-
Monoshock rear suspension setup
-
Supermoto-specific ergonomics and geometry, focusing on handling and maneuverability

The RTS X was one of the showstoppers at the Bharat Mobility Expo, thanks to its minimalist, race-ready aesthetic, featuring a high-mounted front fender, exposed mechanicals, and lightweight design language. The recent design patent could either indicate a near-future production plan or an effort to protect proprietary styling elements from imitation.
If launched, the RTS X will enter a niche yet growing supermoto segment in India—one largely untapped by domestic manufacturers. Its most direct competitor would be the KTM 390 SMC R, which is currently a benchmark for lightweight performance motards.
While TVS has remained tight-lipped about production and launch timelines, automotive analysts suggest that the RTS X could debut in late 2025 or early 2026, possibly in limited numbers to test market demand. Given TVS’s performance legacy through its Apache RTR and RR310 lines, the RTS X could become the brand’s next flagship in the sport-performance category.
That said, not all patented designs make it to production—manufacturers often file patents to protect IP for potential future use, even if a product remains conceptual.

Whether the RTS X hits showrooms or not, TVS’s design patent and public display of the prototype reaffirm its ambitions in performance biking and readiness to take on premium international players. Enthusiasts and industry watchers alike will be keeping a close eye on further developments.
